Upstate New York saw a quick cold snap this weekend before Christmas.  But would you believe it was cold enough to be the coldest weather in the nation?

Accuweather.com, which keeps a daily tally of high and low temperatures across the United States, reports that the Sunday overnight low of -9 the Adirondack Park village of Saranac Lake was the coldest temperature in the nation.

Adirondack locations like Saranac Lake and Old Forge often battle with legendary cold spots like International Falls, MN and Houghton, MI for the coldest temperatures each season.
