Save Money by Eating at Home

It’s a new year and many of us have made resolutions we probably won’t keep for one reason or another. But I plan on sticking to one of mine which is saving more money. My question is, how do I save more money then I already do? One of my plans of attack is making home cooked meals on a regular basis. Are you wondering how buying more food and cooking it at home can save you money? Well, don’t worry I have that answer for you.
I will simply plan each day’s meal and then make a list of what I will need from the grocery store. Once I’ve created my list I will use my couponing skills to make sure I am getting the best deal. I will make dinner every weeknight. Most nights there will be food left over since I watch my portions. I will wrap up any leftovers or put them in containers for another time.
If there is a lot left over, I will put some in a container that I will take to work with me the following day for lunch. This technique will get rid of buying more food for my lunches. The rest I will put in the refrigerator or freezer and have leftovers for dinner another night or make something different using the leftovers. Saving the leftovers and using them for another meal saves money because I won’t have to purchase a ton of food. Plus, by making my meals and not eating out all the time I can save money. Eating out is nice and it can be very easy and sometimes quick; but it adds up pretty quick. Cooking meals at home brings down food costs since you can get multiple meals out of one big meal.
Here’s a video with a few suggestions on what to do with your leftovers. Enjoy!
