Sawyer Fredericks is no simple man but he's definitely filled with soul. The Fultonville teen performed the Lynyrd Skynyrd classic on 'The Voice' for a spot in the top 6.

Fredericks had the opportunity to work with Gwen Stefani, who joined Pharrell as a guest mentor this week and she was impressed. "This kid is so unique. As soon as he opened his mouth he wasn't performing, he was being."

With encouragement from Pharrell, Fredericks came out from behind the mic for the first time this season, making a believer out of his coach. "He's definitely a simple guy but there's an awaking happening with him."

Sawyer says his future is music whether his performance of 'Simple Man' was enough. "I can be happy just living on the farm and performing music."
