Idol fans, the wait is almost over.  Season 13 of "American Idol" begins tonight on Fox and the new season brings a few changes.

According to Fox, Idol produces have made some changes to freshen the show as it begins its thirteenth season.  They've expanded the song choices for the contestants by adding more current songs to the list.

What role will former judge Randy Jackson play?  Producers say he'll be a mentor, helping contestants with vocal issues and such.  Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez and new judge Harry Connick Jr. will sit behind the judge's table.  Ryan Seacrest continues to host the show.

Also new, a "rush week" will be introduced before the Hollywood week auditions.

Tonight's show features auditions from Boston and Austin.  Tomorrow night, more Austin auditions and San Francisco.  The fun begins at 8pm tonight.

Connick has been a mentor on the show before.  Do you think he'll improve the shows ratings which have declined?  Will you be watching?
