She's spent the year on a self-imposed musical hiatus, but Selena Gomez is reportedly ready to get back into the recording studio.

Billboard reports that Gomez, who has been focusing on broadening her film career with parts in varied projects like 'Hotel Transylvania' and 'Spring Breakers,' is prepping the release of a new album for March of 2013 -- less than two years after her last record with her band the Scene, 2011's 'When the Sun Goes Down.'

Details regarding the new music are scarce, but the news comes straight from Ryan Seacrest, who saw Gomez earlier this week at the opening of his "interactive media center for kids" at a children's hospital in Dallas before telling Twitter followers that she "just told me new album in march fyi."

While her recording career hasn't been as high-profile as the musical efforts of fellow former tween stars like Miley Cyrus or Demi Lovato, Gomez has steadily built an audience of her own -- 'When the Sun Goes Down' sold more than 640,000 units and spun off her biggest hit to date, 'Love You Like a Love Song.' Whenever she gets around to putting out that next album, 2013 looks to be her busiest year yet, with two more films ('Getaway' and 'Spring Breakers,' which is due for wide release after making the rounds on the festival circuit) on the way.
