Update, 9/22: The cover are for "Alive" is here and, unsurprisingly, Sia chose not to put her face on it (instead using someone else's face as they wear a two-town Sia-esque bob wig). Just three more days until the single drops...

Originally penned for British soul-pop star Adele, singer-songwriter Sia's upcoming new single "Alive," which was rejected by Adele's team at the last minute, now has an official release date. While the track had previously been rumored to make its debut on September 25, a cryptic Instagram post shared to Twitter—that was then retweeted by Sia Furler herself—seems to confirm that the rumored September release date was indeed correct all along.

The Instagram post, a photo of a graffitied Sia wig silhouette and release date painting against a gray city sidewalk, was posted earlier today by David Russell, the artist's manager at Crush Music Management. "Fasten your wig," the photo was captioned, along with hashtags #sia and #yourenotready. Actually, David, we are BEYOND ready, thank you very much.

Unfortunately, there's no news yet as to when the hit-making Australian artist's forthcoming new album is slated to drop, though we're sure it can't be too far behind "Alive." Called This Is Acting, the album will be comprised entirely of songs that Sia had originally written for other artists—hence the telling record title.

While speaking to reporters at the Venice Film Festival, the famously elusive songwriter explained, "I'm calling it This Is Acting because they are songs I was writing for other people, so I didn't go into it thinking, 'This is something I would say'. It's more like play-acting. It's fun."

The new era of Sia is coming soon. Fasten your wigs, people!
