Simon Turned Down Millions

The biggest change to the current season of American Idol is the loss of Simon Cowell.  Apparently, he originally agreed to be a part of season ten but changed his mind.  Wait until you hear the amount of money he turned down.

In the new book “American Idol: The Untold Story,” author Richard Rushfield says Simon turned down a yearly salary of  one hundred and thirty million dollars to stay on Idol.  He initially agreed to be on the show but changed his mind for two reasons.  One, he wanted to be his own boss and two, he was angry with Idol creator Simon Fuller who sued him for creating “X Factor.”  He told Rushfield that he didn’t steal anything, he just made a new show.  He went on to say when Idol was launched, he couldn’t have done it without Fuller and doesn’t think Fuller could have done the show without him.  The bottom line?  They both like running their own businesses.
