It has more than a dozen locations in the Carolinas, Florida and Virginia, and now Famous Toastery is expanding to Pennsylvania and New York.  The company is currently talking to potential franchise buyers in Syracuse, and is looking to open 35 restaurants between Buffalo and Albany within the next several years.

Famous Toastery co-founder Robert Maynard tells New York Upstate.com that he feels Upstate is underserved by his type of restaurant.  "If you're thinking of Cracker Barrel or Denny's, think again.  It's the polar opposite."   Maynard says the eatery has no freezers, no fryers and no heat lamps.  The restaurant features  "always fresh"  breakfast and afternoon menus, and is looking for different types of locations from older downtown buildings to strip malls.

The North Carolina chain hopes to have their first Upstate New York locations up and running by sometime next year.
