Lawsuits Inspire Subway To Make The Footlong TRULY 12 Inches Long

In this lawsuit-crazed society, if we smell even a little bit of money, we’ll sue and take people to task and to the cleaners and most likely win. Two guys in New Jersey decided to put the squeeze on sandwich juggernaut Subway for their bread being not quite a foot long as they advertized. First the company defended itself and now they have pledged to ensure each sandwich’s true size…

“We have redoubled our efforts to ensure consistency and correct length in every sandwich we serve. Our commitment remains steadfast to ensure that every Subway Footlong sandwich is 12 inches at each location worldwide.”

Now as a consumer, I don’t like being shorted but I never considered myself being cheated out of an extra inch. I mean it’s BREAD we’re talking about here. I am a fledgling cook, but it is impossible in my estimation  to make bread rise to an exact size. It’s just the nature of the beast (no really, bread is a living organism or at least the yeast is) and there are too many variables to be able to crank out buns that are 12 inches on the nose EVERY time.

I’ve written about the mysterious shrinking foods before but this approach seems a tad overboard. It stinks too because one or two people complain publicly and boom, the whole company must adjust. Sue them if they were negligent somehow and a family member of yours died as a result. I mean seriously, how offended could you really be about your sandwich size?? I said this before, but look at it this way, at least you can still but fast food and at the same time will probably lose those couple inches off your waistline that you’ve always wanted to.
