Susan Powter Targets Dr. Phil And Oprah
Susan Powter. Does that name sound familiar? What if I said the phrase “Stop the Insanity?” Now it’s coming back to you. That was Susan’s slogan in the nineties when she was doing all those fitness infomercials. She was everywhere and then seemed to fade away quickly. Now she’s back and taking aim at waistlines, Dr Phil and Oprah.
At the height of her success in the nineties, Susan ran a two hundred million dollar empire that included a tv show and three best-selling books. After the birth of her third child fifteen years ago, Susan left her fitness career behind. She ended up filing for bankruptcy in 1995 and wasn’t planning on getting back into the fitness business. So why is she? Susan says it’s because of all the things she’s seeing and hearing about fitness and health have forced her to come back. Her advice is dished out three times a week on a radio show where she encourages listeners eat, breathe, move and think. Susan has opinion about Oprah and Dr. Phil too, saying ” He gives weight loss advice and he’s fat. He’s a fat man giving dieting advice to women!” As for Oprah, Susan says she’s amazed that very smart women, like Oprah, can’t figure out what to eat. And she cautions that American lifestyle is not the way to lose weight.
