Adele has been quiet lately because she had to be. After having vocal cord surgery to remove polyps that caused her to table several planned tours, the women behind the best-selling album since 2004, ’21,’ was ordered to pipe down and keep quiet until she healed. So she had no choice.
However, she’s made progress and is opening up to Anderson Cooper on ’60 Minutes,’ which airs this Sunday (Feb. 12) before the Grammys.

Adele was not psyched at all about giving up her bad habit, since she expressed such joy over it, but she resigned herself to becoming a non-smoker as it was better for her voice. However, she’s fallen off the wagon on which she never wanted to be in the first place!
Sounds like Adele indeed turned her sorrow into treasured gold — then into treasured platinum, and next week into a Billboard chart record. Billboard reports that amid a week of few new releases, the British chanteuse is slated to top their Billboard 200 chart for the 16th nonconsecutive week, tying the record previously set by the ‘Titanic’ soundtrack.
Adele is on the road to recovery following vocal cord surgery last November, and will be attending the 2012 Grammy awards ceremony in February. Fingers crossed she’ll be well enough to sing!
