How would like a live turtle or goldfish for a necklace? Apparently some really cruel people in China think you'd like that. The necklaces and key-chains made using live animals can be found and bought on the streets of Beijing. This practice has again brought attention to the issue of animal cruelty in China.

Come on, It's Adopt-a Pet Wednesday, a day of rescuing pets, finding them loving homes. On a day like today it's hard to believe somebody could just dump a bunch of adorable puppies into a trash can. Seriously? What is wrong with people? Fortunately, for every abuser of animals, there is a person who will rescue animals who were tossed away like trash.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a dog-lover just like Candice A. Salvatore from Mariners Harbor in Staten Island. She says she had only the best intentions when she called 911 to report an "abandoned baby". Unfortunately when police responded they found themselves rescuing an emaciated 'pit bull puppy' on her block.
