After a media spectacle of a wedding that took place just over two months ago, TMZ is now reporting that reality star Kim Kardashian will file for divorce from her husband, NBA player Kris Humphries, sometime on Monday.
Some lawmakers in Mexico City are considering amending marriage laws to allow for an initial two-year marriage term that can be renewed if the couple stays together. If they don’t, they can separate with no official divorce needed.

The 2009 Census reveals that while couples in western and southern states marry more often, they also divorce at a higher rate than those in other areas of the US.
Andrew Cherlin, a professor of sociology and public policy at Johns Hopkins University, said, “Surprisingly, the south and west, which we think of as more socially conservative, have higher rates of divorce than does the supposedly liberal east. The reason is that young adults in the south and west tend to have less education and marry earlier, both of which lead to a higher risk of divorce.”
Getting hitched results in women putting on the pounds, whereas the male waistline is more likely to expand after a divorce.
Researchers from Ohio State University discovered this discrepancy after analyzing a study on the effects marital events had on 10,000 people between 1986 and 2008.
August 19, 2011 I was reading a study from the Australian Institute of Family Studies that reveals the average time couples go from being married to being separated now stands at 8.7 years, up from 7.5 in 1980. The average time taken for couples to actually divorce has also increased from 10.2 years to 12.3 years. I hope this never happens to me!
