What impressed me the most about 'The Outer Limits' was some of the groundbreaking effects they used. For the 1960s, the show was pretty advanced. And like 'The Twilight Zone' this nostalgic TV show was a science fiction program featuring a different cast each week. This one is a true classic. 'I Married Joan' aired on NBC in the 50s. It starred veteran film and radio comedienne Joan Davis as the manic wife of a mild-mannered community judge, Bradley Stevens. Her husband was played by Jim Backus of Gilligan's Island fame and the voice of Mr. Magoo. The show centered on Joan, a scatterbrained housewife, and her husband. Joan really had a baby face because Joan Davis, her real-life daughter co-starred on the show playing the part of her sister.

Watching this nostalgic TV show as a child I thought, "Cool, I can't wait to grow up and get my own apartment wearing bell-bottom jeans and then girly girls will come over to smooch with me." I was a warped child. 'Love American Style' featured hour-long shows that had a show within a show, each with an introductory title card. Normally there were three or four mini stories in a show. Sometimes there were as few as one or as many as five.

Last week I finally got to a TV special I recorded hosted by Barbara Walters, "The Most Popular TV Shows of All Time" and can you guess which came in at number one? "I Love Lucy" did and I agree. It's still running on nostalgic TV show networks today. I Love Lucy (1951-1957) was the most watched show in the United States in four of its six seasons, and was the first to end its run at the top of the Nielsen ratings.
