Utica Releases Leaf Collection Schedule

The City of Utica has released its fall green waste collection schedule. Residents can rake their leaves to the curb to be picked up loose by the Department of Public Works through November 9th. Big Upgrades Underway At The Utica Solid Waste Authority

I managed to visit with family and friends in both Buffalo and New Jersey along with getting some serious Spring cleaning while on vacation this week. One highlight of cleaning was a visit to the Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Authority. Underway right now is a 10 million dollar upgrade project for the facility, and that is good news for Utica.

Okay, the first two bins are for cardboard like pizza boxes, kleenex containers or food packages. The middle bin is oval shaped for plastic containers like juice and milk containers. Now the 4th bin is for empty aluminum cans and the 5th is for glass containers. Often I find my self cleaning up after a family that just throws anything in any bin, and it can get messy.

Great news...no more! As heard on your information update this morning you can now mix all your recyclabes together.
