Sting has been in the public eye for years. From his days with the "Police" to his highly successful solo career, you might think you know everything you need to know about Sting. As a longtime Sting fan, I recently discovered some things I didn't know about him. Check out this list I found in a recent issue of "Parade."
Sting feels that celebrities need to stand back from the global "Occupy" movement. In Rolling Stone's 2011 "Year In Review," Sting spoke candidly saying, "I don't think celebrities should necessarily go to 'Occupy' events. They're usually there to aggrandize themselves, anyway. I will support it from a distance. We have to get back to civic responsibility at some point -- otherwise we don't have a society."
Happy Belated Birthday to Sting, who turned 60 last month. Some people aren't happy about reaching milestone birthdays, but Sting isn't one of them.
The four-disc set '25 Years' spans his entire solo career and contains 45 remastered tracks personally curated by Sting. Also you'll find a previously unreleased 2005 live concert on DVD, plus a comprehensive hardcover book. 25 Years marks the first major collection spanning Sting's post-Police years .
Late last month, Sting joined Lady Gaga onstage in Las Vegas during her iHeartRadio Music Festival set.
On Saturday, Gaga returned the favor, dropping by New York’s Beacon Theatre for a show that marked Sting’s 60th birthday and his 25 years as a solo artist.
But Gaga wasn’t the only star who showed some love for Sting: Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Stevie Wonder and Black Eyed Peas main man Will.i.am were among the other big names who came to jam on Sting and Police songs.
Singing the Ben E. King hit ‘Stand by Me’ together is nothing new for Lady Gaga and Sting.
But at last weekend’s iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas, they took their onstage collaboration to the next level by also performing a version of The Police‘s ‘King of Pain.’
Sting fans have alot to look forward to this fall. He's going to be doing a short tour, releasing a four disc album and is also working on his first Broadway musical.
A four-disc set commemorating Sting’s 25th anniversary as a solo artist is coming out September 27.
