For the past decade we've been set up at the starting line of the race providing the soundtrack for the runners as they take off for the big 15K road race here in beautiful Utica, New York. On Saturday, July 13th, 2013 one of the most popular Boilermaker events of the year is happening. The Utica National Kids' Run is in its 25th year and it's lots of fun for kids and parents alike. The event at Mohawk Valley Community College offers kids exposure to the sport of running while introducing them to the spirit of the Boilermaker.

In just over three months (July 13th and 14th, 2013) the Utica Boilermaker festivities will be underway. The question on everyones mind in Central New York is, "Could this happen here?" Could what happened at the Boston marathon possibly happen during the running of the 36th annual Boilermaker race? The 'Boilermaker Burger' is available, starting today!. The New York Beef Industry Council along with Babe’s Macaroni Grill, Carmella’s Cafe and the Boilermaker have partnered together to again serve you the Boilermaker Burger! These partners lead by NYBIC, have created an exciting delicious extraordinary eating experience that can ONLY be found at Babe’s and Carmella’s restaurants.

And again, Ridouane Harroufi from Morocco is a 2nd time winner of the Utica Boilermaker 15K road race. He also won in 2009. 15K is about 9.3 miles of running but as I noted live on Lite 98.7 just before the cannon blast, the path to the starting area adds just enough distance to total 9.87 miles. (okay I just made that up).
