I've been in the radio industry for over a quarter of a century now and I've seen all kinds of tactics used by record companies to get us to play their songs. I recall requests coming in from out of town phone numbers asking for new songs yet to added to our playlist. Really? Has PSY and "Gangnam Style" been viewed over a billion times or just over 38 million? Are Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, and Justin Bieber really that popular? According to GetWriteGossip.com, they're not.
We're huge fans of music mashups, because there are tons of different types. Presidential versions and ones involving staplers top our list as favorites so far. There's also that Leo Dicaprio and 'My Little Pony' video that may or may not have weird-ed us out for a while. Well, recently we discovered another mashup artist who's upping the game by recreating a famous piece by composer and pianist Edvard Grieg. (Chances are you'll recognize the tune.)
Anybody who's been to YouTube quickly becomes cynical about the future of the human race, particularly when you read the comments to... well... any video. But this PBS video argues that YouTube actually makes you smarter by lowering barriers to learning about literally any topic. And we have to admit, they've got a point. There are all sorts of educational videos on YouTube. Of course, there are also videos like this:
Dirty Dancing,' the classic '80s film starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey (aka Ferris Bueller's party-pooping sister), turned 25 years old on Tuesday and there's a lot to be thankful for.
Not only did it mark one of the best on screen appearances of Swayze's pecs and abs, it also marked the moment when acting all sexy while trying to ballroom dance was considered a legitimate way to woo women. Too bad the movie didn't come with a “Please Do Not Try This At Home” warning.
Overnight this YouTube clip has become a viral sensation, and it’s easy to see why people all over the world are cooing over this hilariously cute kid. From start to finish this little girl (or guy? Who cares?! It’s so cute!) has us doubling up over her very mature shopping skills.
It has to be the song of the summer. ‘Call Me Maybe’ by Carly Rae Jepsen. You’ve probably heard it spoofed more times then you may have actually heard the actual song. Well now it seemed to have slipped its way into a galaxy far far away.
