What was life like in Upstate New York in the 19th century?  You can actually step back in time for a few hours at the Farmers Museum in Cooperstown.

The museum has done a very good job of recreating rural life in the 1800's.  The historic village is actually made up of actual houses and buildings that have been moved to the site from other locations in the state.

When you visit a home or one of the shops, feel free to ask questions.  The inhabitants of the village will gladly explain and demonstrate their skills.

If you haven't visited the Farmers Museum in several years, you'll notice that the village has been updated.  The home above was built in 1818 and moved to the museum in the 1990's.  The interior is very much the way it was nearly 200 years ago.
