Taylor Swift Covers New York, Says She Only Writes About Crazy Love

Taylor Swift and her lovely face cover the new issue of New York! The singer-songwriter revealed that she only writes about crazy love and that the guy who inspired many of the tracks on ‘Red’ discussed his reaction to the album with her. Plus, she admitted she’s well aware of the media spin on her life, particularly her love life.

Speculation is that ‘Red’ tracks are largely about actor Jake Gyllenhaal – he is said to be the inspiration behind ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.’ But then again, One Direction‘s Harry Styles is believed to be the person who inspired ‘I Knew You Were Trouble.’ So it could be any of her many exes who called her about it.

But calling her to discuss her latest best-seller does not mean “calling her out” on it.

Regarding the ex who addressed her directly, Swift said, “He was like, ‘I just listened to the album, and that was a really bittersweet experience for me. It was like going through a photo album.’ That was nice. Nicer than, like, the ranting, crazy e-mails I got from this one dude.”

She continued, “It’s a lot more mature way of looking at a love that was wonderful until it was terrible, and both people got hurt from it — but one of those people happened to be a songwriter. So what are you going to do? Did you not Wikipedia me before you called me up [for a date]?”

Spoken like a girl who is well aware of how she is perceived by boys and by gossipers.

Swift also said, “There’s a spin on every single celebrity out there. I know that one of my spins is, ‘Oh, Taylor’s heartbroken. Oh, Taylor fell in love and the guy broke her heart. She’s sad all the time, and lonely.’ I mean, they can say that all they want. Those are real feelings that every single person goes through. I think that it’s okay to be mad at someone who hurt you. This isn’t about, like, the pageantry of trying to seem like nothing affects you. I’m a songwriter. Everything affects me.”

That’s exactly why her fans connect to T. Swizzle so fervently — because she is so real.

But when it comes to love, she isn’t penning odes to dudes who last less than three dates. Mad love is the only type o’ love that makes it into her lyrics. While she is known for her relationships being on the shorter side, she isn’t looking to deeply into ones that don’t go anywhere.

“I only write songs about crazy love,” she admitted. “If I go on two dates with a guy and we don’t click, I’m not writing a song about that. It didn’t matter in the emotional grand scheme of things. There’s a lot that goes on in daily life that isn’t really worth turning into a verse and a chorus.”
