While the news bombards us with reports about bullying, it turns out there is another serious issue plaguing teenagers today: heroin use.

It’s a growing problem across the nation, amongst all age groups. In fact, between 2007 and 2012, the number of people who’ve tried the drug skyrocketed from 373,000 to 669,000, while a report from the Centers for Disease Control concluded that three-in-10 high school students have tried it.

And the issue of heroin use has certainly gotten publicity in the wake of the death of 'Glee' star Cory Monteith, putting a spotlight on just how lethal it can be.

In New Jersey’s Monmouth County, the dilemma is particularly pressing. In the area around one school district, 721 people have gotten help for heroin addiction, and teens are among the numbers. The county has also had 37 young people die this year from overdosing on heroin.
