This is one of America's favorite times of the year. Seeing the President and the first family light up the tree. President Obama and his family flipped the switch on the National Christmas Tree Thursday night.

President Obama said that he hopes that the new tree lasts longer than the last one, which died after just a year.

The president said,

"Our tree has been having a hard time recently. This is our third one in as many years."

CNN reports that the tree that stood near the White House for more than 30 years was destroyed in a storm last year and it's replacement died.

That makes this new tree just a little more special. Enjoy.
