The Hobbit Will Be Told In Three Movies

As a kid, one of my favorite books was Tolkien's 'The Hobbit.'  I read and re-read that book a thousand times and was thrilled when the 'Lord of the Rings' books were made into movies.   So imagine my excitement when I heard Peter Jackson was going to turn 'The Hobbit' into a film.  Make that three films. 

Jackson has confirmed he'll be telling the tale of Bilbo Baggins vie three movies.  Originally it was going to be two films but Jackson made the change so that more of the story could be told.  He called it "taking a chance" but said much of  "the  richness of the story" would be left untold if he didn't make a third 'Hobbit' film.  The first movie, called 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' is scheduled to appear in theaters on December 14th.   I'll be there sitting in the front row!
