Even though the official Thanksgiving here in the States is later this week, U.S. soldiers in Iraq gathered for an early Thanksgiving dinner because they are shutting down the last dining facility as they prepare to depart the country for good.

More than 6,000 soldiers and contractors ate their last Thanksgiving meal in Iraq at tables decorated with colorful paper turkeys and "Happy Thanksgiving" signs hanging overhead.

They had crab legs, turkey, ham, dressing, yams, green beans, rolls, corn bread, mashed potatoes with a bunch of desserts.

President Barack Obama announced on October 21 that U.S. forces would leave by the end of this year, and it sure looks like it's happening.
