The Lower East Side Looks Like A Wasteland [VIDEO]

When it comes to a post-apocalyptic wasteland of the near future New York City's Lower East Side seems perfect for a movie setting.

A recent video has surfaced of New York City's Lower East Side in the 1980s. While today Manhattan's downtown is a hipster paradise of fashion, coffee shops and astronomical rent, it wasn't that long ago that it it was the very image of a dystopian nightmare.

In the footage you see abandoned buildings, vacant lots and enough graffiti to look like a movie set. The few people you do see in the clip look like they should be running from one building to another to avoid some horror that has destroyed civilization.
