A few weeks ago we brought the game-changing news for 'The Vampire Diaries' fans that the show's April 25 episode would serve as a backdooor pilot for potential spin-off vehicle 'The Originals,' following fan-favorite character Klaus (Joseph Morgan) as he returns to New Orleans' French Quarter. The CW has yet to make any kind of official decision regarding the spin-off, but for now 'The Originals' has cast yet another familiar face for the episode. Prior guest star Daniel Gillies will reprise his role as Elijah for the episode, becoming a regular on the spin-off, but is 'The Originals' a sure thing?

'The Vampire Diaries' fans were elated to learn that fan-favorite character Klaus was being positioned for a potential spin-off to follow 'The Originals,' beginning with the April 25 'Diaries' episode of the same name. Now, we've learned that actor Daniel Gillies will be present for the episode as well, transplanting his role as Elijah to the spin-off if The CW decides to pick up the option.

The new series will follow Klaus as he “returns to the supernatural melting pot that is the French Quarter of New Orleans, a town he helped build centuries ago, and is reunited with his diabolical former protege Marcel.” Recent ‘Vampire Diaries’ series regular Phoebe Tonkin will reprise her role as werewolf character Hayley, as well.

Should The CW decide to take ‘The Originals’ to series, ‘Vampire Diaries’ executive producer and episode writer Julie Plec will serve as show-runner, with Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo acting as executive producers.

Well, what say you? Do you think 'The Originals' will find a new home on The CW? Who from 'The Vampire Diaries' besides Daniel Gillies would you like to see join the cast?
