It's another episode of "The Zoo's News." This week we talked to Mike Beck at the Utica Zoo about their upcoming event this weekend, "Brewfest."

This Saturday, August 5th is the 19th annual "Brewfest" at the Utica Zoo. Communications Coordinator at the Utica Zoo Mike Beck, explains the details on their biggest fundraiser of the year. In the video (above), Beck says there will be over 100 different beers on tap that you'll get to sample and enjoy while visiting all the animals at the zoo. There will also be different wines, wine slushies, ciders, and other delicious adult beverages.

Your brewfest ticket includes your ticket into the zoo (to see all the animals), plus live music and food samples. Tickets are $35 in advance and $40 at the door (there are also discounts if you're a Utica Zoo Member or if you're a designated driver). You can get your tickets by visiting: UticaZoo.org/Brew

Mike Beck also told us about something special you can get if you get to the zoo early. And it fits perfectly with the "Red Pandamonium" that has taken over (as he likes to call it). In the video (at the top of this page), Beck explains that the first 3,000 attendees through the gates will get the Utica Zoo Brewfest pint glass, which has an adorable picture of a Red Panda on it. And of course, Naomi Lynn was MORE than excited to hear that news.

Woodland Farm Brewery has also created a very special beer just for this event. It's called "Zoo York State IPA" and 100% of the ingredients are sourced from our state. This is the second year that Woodland has made a custom beer for Brewfest, so make sure you stop by their booth and sample the new "Zoo York State IPA."

So why not head down to the Utica Zoo this Saturday and enjoy "Brewfest?!" Not only will you have a fantastic time, but you'll also be supporting and helping out the Utica Zoo as well. And it's three full hours of all the beer and wine samples you could possibly want. Again, Brewfest is this Saturday at the zoo, it goes from 6pm - 9pm. And if you get your tickets in advance you can save a few bucks.

We want to thank Mike Beck for joining us on another segment of "The Zoo's News." If you have any questions about the Utica Zoo, upcoming events, the animals at the zoo (or just on animals in general), you can submit a question at the link below. Who knows?! It may be featured on an upcoming episode of “The Zoo’s News.”
