In this segment of 'The Zoo's News' we talk to the Director of Communications at the Utica Zoo about how you can help them this Christmas.

'Tis the season for giving!

Mike Beck, Director of Communications at the Utica Zoo, tells us about the zoo's "Wish List." Now, this isn't just a list of things the zoo needs, there are also items that go to the animals, and products to help the zoo keepers continue to do a wonderful job.

In the video (at the top of this page), Mike Beck explains that the Utica Zoo has a wish list throughout the year, but it's definitely important and more focused during the holiday season. Some of the items needed are for the animals like small chew toys, scratching brush, Brazil nuts (in the shell), and other goodies. But not all the items needed are just for the animals. Beck explains they need...

...other things for the office, like paper towels or hand sanitizer, or jet photo paper.

The Utica Zoo is also asking for gift cards, so if want to give, but you're not sure what to get off the list, you can always take that route. They're looking for gift cards from places like PetSmart, Price Chopper, Hannaford, Home Depot, Walmart, and a handful of others. You can see the full wish list at: UticaZoo.org/Wishlist

It may not seem like a lot to donate a few rolls of paper towels to the Utica Zoo, but every little bit helps. A lot of times we head to the Utica Zoo, enjoy the animals and special events they offer, but we forget about everything that goes on behind-the scenes. The things the zoo needs to keep up and running so we can continue to cherish this great feature in our area.

Mike Beck also wants to give a shout out to all the people, businesses, and organizations that have donated and continue to donate. Whether it's money, products, or services, those who give, help out the Utica Zoo SO much.

If you're interesting in giving, again you can see the list at: UticaZoo.org/Wishlist, and drop off your donations at the zoo. If you have any questions you can always call the Utica Zoo at (315) 738-0472

And if you have any questions about the Utica Zoo, animals at the zoo, upcoming events or pretty much anything, you can submit them at the link below. They may be featured in an upcoming segment of "The Zoo's News."
