Whether you follow sports alot or just occasionally, chances are good you've heard the name Tim Tebow alot lately.  The Denver Broncos quarterback is pretty much becoming a household name these days and has been chosen by Americans as their favorite active pro athlete in a recent ESPN Sports Poll.

The poll, done last month, put Tebow in first, ahead of Kobe Bryant, Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning and Tom Brady, who all round out the top five.  The NFL must be pleased that four of the five favorite athletes are football players.  According to ESPN, Tebow placing first is the earliest and fastest any athlete has taken the top spot since the poll began in 1994.  When Tebow is on tv, the number of people watching goes up big time.  Rich Luker, the founder and director of the ESPN Sports poll says Tebow took the top spot before the end of his second season, while it took Kobe Bryant 11 years to do it, LeBron James 8 years and Tiger Wood 3 years.  Love him or hate him, as some do, looks like Tebow and the "Tebow Effect" aren't going anywhere anytime soon.
