The holiday season seems to bring out the best in people (for the most part). 'Tis the season for giving, and I was lucky enough to experience the greatness of people in the Central New York area, during this holiday season.

First off let me just say, moving to a new area, moving away from everything and everyone I knew, was a little difficult. I figured it would take me a few months to feel comfortable, a few months to settle in, and start making friends.

I was completely wrong. Since my first week moving out here, I felt like I was home. The people in Central New York are amazing. Everyone is so understanding, and accepting, and I feel like I was welcomed in with open arms.

I also thought this Christmas was going to be rough for me. This is the first time I have been away from my family and friends during the holiday season. Again, I was wrong. 'Tis the season for giving - and it's true. After Christmas parties with coworkers, (and of course an ugly sweater party, or two), and being invited out for both Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner, I am in awe of the kindness of people.

I spent my Christmas with a coworker, who couldn't see me sitting alone during the holidays. To welcome me in, as part of the family, and not out of pity - really shows the kindness of this area.

After a month of living in Central New York - I know I made the right choice. The people, the things to do, the wonderfulness of this area... I am home.
