Tom Hanks Is America’s Favorite Movie Star

Americans love their movies and their movie stars.  Tom Hanks should be feeling plenty of love right about now.  Hanks is America's favorite movie star and this isn't the first time he's received such accolades. 

Hanks was named America's favorite actor by the annual Harris Poll not only this year but also in 2002, 2004 and 2005.  Four times in twelve years?  That has to make him smile.

Who else cracked the top ten for 2014's favorite movie stars?

Denzel Washington dropped from first to second place.  Actress Jennifer Lawrence is third, Julie Roberts fourth, Sandra Bullock fifth, Johnny Depp sixth, John Wayne seventh, Clint Eastwood eighth, Brad Pitt ninth and Meryl Streep rounds out the top ten.

Hollywood legend John Wayne has been dead sine 1979 but he's been on the top ten favorite movie stars list every single year since 1994.  He's the only actor to have done that.

This year, four actresses made the top ten.  Last year, Meryl Streep was the only woman on the list.

Matt Damon, George Clooney and Harrison Ford all dropped off the list.
