Summer may be winding down, but that doesn't mean the activities are wrapping up in Central New York. It's another busy weekend with tons to see and do, from free concerts at the Great New York State Fair to hot-air balloons at Balloon Fest, and everything else in between. We found the best events going on this weekend that you should definitely make time for.

    DNCE Performing Free Show

    Sat. September 2: 8pm

    PRICE: Free
    Joe Jonas and the rest of DNCE will be performing at the Great New York State Fair as part of their Chevy Court Concert Series. Probably one of their biggest hits "Cake By the Ocean" will have you dancing your heart out.

    Balloon Fest in Oneonta

    Fri. September 1: 5pm & Sat. September 2: 6am

    PRICE: Free
    It's a whole weekend of hot-air balloon fun in Oneonta. Friday live music will start at 5pm, followed by the balloon launch at 6pm. There will also be a "pound" workout class at 7pm. Saturday is a busy day with the balloon launch at 6am, a color run at 9:30am, a classic car cruise at 2pm and tons of other family-friendly activities.

    Cooperstown Artisan Festival

    Sat. September 2: 10a - Sun. September 3: 5pm

    PRICE: Free
    It's the first annual Cooperstown Artisan Festival being held in downtown Cooperstown. There will be a variety of artisans, crafters, entertainment and demonstrations throughout the weekend.

    Yoga in the Square in Utica

    PRICE: Free
    Thanks to Bite Bakery, you can enjoy a free yoga class at Franklin Square Alley in downtown Utica. It's open to all ages and all yoga-levels. They do ask that you bring your own mat.

    Taste NY Food Truck Competition

    Sat. & Sun. September 2 & 3: 10a - 7p

    PRICE: $3 per sample
    Taste delicious dishes from the best food trucks in New York. As part of the Great New York State Fair, 20 food trucks will compete each day and serve up a signature item, everything from taco fries to bacon macaroni and cheese jalapeno fritters. There will also be barbecue pork dishes, beverages, and tons of other treats. Don't forget to check out (and vote) for Rome's own "Come Fry with Me," which will be participating on the second day of the competition.

    Freestyle Motocross and Monster Trucks at the Fonda Fair

    Sat. September 2: 6p - 10p

    PRICE: $10 admission into the fair, children 6 - 11: $2, children under 6: Free (additional tickets may be needed for this event at the fair)
    New this year to the Fonda Fair is the Monster Trucks and Motorcycle show. Three Monster Trucks will battle it out in a Freestyle Competition. Plus, two of the best motocross riders will be showcasing their skills. Make sure to stick around the fair to enjoy the fireworks at dusk.

    Backyard BBQ Festival in Utica

    Sat. & Sun. September 2 & 3: 12p - 5p

    PRICE: Free
    Bass Pro Shops on Horatio Street in Utica is holding a special festival for the whole family. It includes free hot dogs, funnel cake samples, face painting, a fishing challenge, crafts for the kids, and more.

    Family Movie Night in Amsterdam

    Mon. September 4: 6p - 8p

    PRICE: Free
    Sure, it's a little bit of a drive from the Utica/Rome area, but it could be a nice adventure for the family before school starts. It's being held at the 316 Youth and Community Center on Market Street. They will be showing the movie "The Lost Medallion." Free popcorn will also be available.

    Spin Doctors at the Great New York State Fair

    Another awesome free show at the Great New York State Fair this weekend is the "Spin Doctors." Probably best known for their hits "Little Miss Can't Be Wrong" and "Two Princes," it's sure to be a great show.

    Annual Iroquois Indian Festival

    Sat. September 2: 10am - Sun. September 3: 5pm

    PRICE: Admission is $8 for adults, $6.50 for students, $5 for children 5 - 12, and free for children under 5
    Happening at the Iroquois Indian Museum at Howes Cave, this is sure to be a very unique, family-friendly event everyone can enjoy. There will be an Iroquois Indian market, sky dancers, crafts for the children, story telling and other activities.
