Top 10 Safest Community in New York State: Oriskany

Niche.com recently ranked the "safest" suburbs in New York State, and Oriskany placed in the top 10. 

Oneida County represented a handful of neighborhoods you should feel comfortable raising a family in because the Mohawk Valley is home to 5 of the safest communities in the Empire State.

Oriskany came in at #8, and the town of Whitestown found itself at #18 on the list. According to the Rome Sentinel:

Oriskany is the smallest of the local communities to make the list at 1,329 residents, and the town of Whitestown, the largest with 18,669 residents and an area of 27-square miles, these towns are among the safest places to live and still be within shouting distance of a metropolitan area in the state, according to the website’s researchers.

Other Central New York communities that made the "safest" list are as follows: Kirkland #34, Whitesboro #59, and NY Mills #61. Westchester County's, Pleasantville secured the #1 spot.

Niche.com ranked suburbs based on a variety of factors including: Assaults, burglaries, and violent crimes.  Isn't it good to know that you can rest a little easier at night knowing that you're hometown is in the safe zone?
