Perhaps it's time we silence the naysayers. Let's give Utica the props she deserves.

 Parking's a Breeze

Compared to the parking in Nashville, and Los Angeles, Uticans have it made when it comes to trying to find a parking space. It was almost always a struggle to find one in Music City, and their were just never enough spaces to go around in the City of Angels. I just discovered something really cool yesterday too. I parked my car in a public garage over the weekend; and to my surprise, I didn't have to pay a dime.

Few Traffic Problems

The road conditions aren't the best here, but our construction crews are busy working on filling in pot holes and repaving our streets. While I was living out west, I got to experience "The world's biggest parking lot." If you're not familiar with this highway, it's also known as the 405 Freeway.  On the 405, traffic is always backed up for miles, and you can always count on being late to your intended destination. Nashville traffic wasn't a whole lot better. If I had an appointment in either location, I almost always had to figure in delays.

The Food

Let's be honest, Utica has some of the finest fare in the country. We're a little city with a big array of food choices. Because our area is so ethnically diverse, we can sample food from just about anywhere in the world.

The 4 Seasons

A lot of my Nashville and California friends are jealous of the fact that autumn in the Mohawk Valley is more scenic than it is where they are. Fall in Central New York is simply awesome! Hey, did you know that we get to experience winter here? Granted, it seems like it lasts an eternity, but we get to play in the snow too! Skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, and sledding are just a few of the activities we get to enjoy. Spring is colorful, and summer is comfortable here too. In California, there was little or no change in seasons, and in Tennessee, the summer was extremely muggy.

The People

Utica has some of the most friendly and down to earth people I've ever met. That's saying a lot, considering I just moved back to Central New York from an area where southern hospitality and kindness are king.
