Mother's Day is fast approaching.  Where will you be taking Mom for her special day this Sunday?  One of the best things about living in Central New York is the number of great restaurants we have.  These are my top five picks for Mother's Day, in no particular order.

Symeons

You can't go wrong by taking Mom to Symeon's.  The food is wonderful, the service is great and the prices are very reasonable.  Symeon and his staff always make you feel welcome and are not the least bit fazed by kids doing what they do, like dropping Cheerios all over the floor.  Need to have a baby bottle warmed up or cereal heated?  I've had to ask for that a few times and they're always happy to accomodate.  I love their Chicken Florentine and you have to save room for their baklava cheesecake.  Yum!

The Savoy

The menu at The Savoy offers so many delicious choices that even the fussiest Mom will be able to find something she'll like.  The atmosphere is fun and I love listening to the piano while I'm enjoying one of my favorite dishes, like Linguine Carbonara.  Try their fried zuchini.  I could make that appetizer my meal!  The wait staff is always friendly and fast and it's just a fun, delicious dining experience.  Plus, there are lots of things on the wall to keep little kids occupied, which is always a good thing when you're trying to eat.  Oh, try one of their grilled paninis too.  Delicious.

Bella Cucina

Tony and his staff always do a great job, both with the food and the service.  Like bruschetta?  Have Mom try it at Bella Cucina.  It's so good.  One of my favorite dishes is the Chicken Fettuccine.  Dining at Bella Cucina always reminds me of being at a special family party.  Maybe it's because I've celebrated so many birthdays there.    You won't be disappointed if you go to Bella Cucina and neither will Mom!   Love greens?  Order Greens Lupino.

The Otesaga in Cooperstown

It's worth the drive to treat Mom to a special meal at the Otesaga.  I love having their brunch while enjoying the beautiful view from the big porch.  It makes the meal that much better.  The setting is so elegant and the food is very good.  The staff do a great job and it's fun to walk around the grounds and hotel after you enjoy your delicious meal.  I'm a big fan of their omlettes and waffles.  Plus, Cooperstown is always a nice place to visits.  Lots of cute little shops and of course the Baseball Hall of Fame.

The Radisson

I like going to their Sunday brunch.  The downtown Utica hotel has a nice mix of breakfast foods and dinner foods too.  I usually head first to the omlette station to have them whip me up a bacon and cheese omlette and my next stop is their pasta station.  Love their french toast and the fact that the syrup is hot.  I am not a fan of cold syrup.  What can I say about the dessert table?  It's overwhelming.  Soemtimes I make my own icecream sundae, sometimes I grab some cookies and petite fours.  You can see why kids would love it too.  The pool is nearby, so if the kids get restless, you can always take them for a little walk to see the pool.  I like the sky lights in the main dining room too, especially if we're lucky enough to have sunshine that day.

Wherever you celebrate Mother's day, I hope it's a happy one!
