Traffic Alert: New York State Thruway Blocked Between Syracuse and Canastota

The New York State Thruway is a no-go for travellers this afternoon between Interstate 481 in Syracuse (Exit 34A) and Canastota (Exit 34).
All of the westbound lanes are blocked due to a vehicle fire while gapers delays hamper eastbound travel.

If you are traveling eastbound to the Mohawk Valley this afternoon, exit at I-481 and head south to Route 5 and take Route 5 east.

If you're trying to get to Syracuse from Utica and Rome, exit at Verona (Exit 33) take Route 365 to Route 5 west.
