For those of us who used the Uber ride sharing service in other parts of the country,  not having it available here in Central New York is like stepping back to the dark ages.  Imagine waking up for work and realizing your car has a flat.  You can either change the tire, wait for Triple A, or call a cab.  All of those options will probably make you late.

With Uber, you open the app, request a ride, and most likely a car arrives at your home within 5 to 10 minutes.   You'll have a ride to work and at a very reasonable fare.

Well now, Uber has relaunched it's #NYNeedsUber campaign.  The company sent an email to upstate residents reminding them that the region is one of the very last places in the country without access to ridesharing apps.  They also point out that over one million Empire State residents who live north of New York City have downloaded the Uber app.

The new #NYNeedsUber drive asks New Yorkers to make their voices heard and tell government officials that we want ride sharing.  According to the Uber press release, last year Utica Mayor Robert Palmieri joined the campaign.
