The United Way of the Valley and Greater Utica Area's seventh annual Back-to-School Supply Drive kicked off today.

Donations will be accepted at Berkshire Bank locations in Oneida and Hekimer Counties and at Boscov's in the Sangertown Square Mall in New Hartford.

Anyone wishing to donate but not able to drop off supplies can purchase School Supply Kits online at at www.unitedwaykits.com.

"United Way is focused on supporting the building blocks for a good quality of life. Education continues to be among the top priorities locally," said United Way Executive Director Brenda Episcopo. "These donated school supplies will help ensure local children have the tools they need to start school prepared, confident, and ready to learn. When a child succeeds in school, our whole community succeeds."

Last year, more than 22,000 items were collected. In addition to supplies, more than $2,400 in monetary donations was raised.

The drive will run through August 11th.
