The most famous birds in Central New York, the Utica peregrine falcons, Astrid and Ares, have produced their first egg for the 2016 breeding season.

The birds a nest box atop the 15th floor ledge at the Adirondack Bank in downtown Utica home, and that's where the eggs are being laid. According to WKTV, three more eggs are expected this week.

Peregrine falcons, famous for being the fastest birds in the world, are on the endangered species list. There are only about 75 pairs known in the state. Two years ago, Astrid and Ares became the first pair to successfully breed in Utica and in Oneida County history."

Remember, the incubation period last at least 33 days. We can expect to see hatching starting in late April and early May.
