The Utica Fire Department can never receive accolades for battling blazes and doing good in our community. The other night their firefighting was captured on video.

Firemen at the Utica Fire Department are no strangers to garnering the attention of the media both locally and nationally. They certainly never asked to receive criticism over their "Happy  Birthday Jesus We Love You" sign in December of 2014. According to The Washington Times:

A fire department in Utica, N.Y., is facing fire from atheists and the Freedom From Religion Foundation for a sign posted outside its door that reads: “HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESUS WE LOVE YOU.”The FFRF sent a letter to Utica Fire Department Station 4 demanding that officials take down the sign, saying it’s little more than a “religious endorsement,” The Blaze reported.

In 2014, the Utica Fire Department made headlines again after they learned that they lost one of their brothers in a snowmobiling accident. WKTV reported:

Chief Russell Brooks said earlier today that 29-year-old Matthew Benn was killed after he hit a tree near Plummer Road, and then later died at a local hospital from injuries sustained in the accident.Brooks said Benn was an exemplary officer, and despite having been at UFD for less than three years, was loved and respected by the department brotherhood.

Regardless of circumstances, our brave men at the Utica Fire Department continue to rise above, regardless of conditions. Here's a video of them courageously battling a blaze on Pleasant street.

This Morning Just Jen and I talked about my fun filled day at the Great NYS Fair.
