It’s been the biggest viral video to come out of Utica. We’re talking about the recently released video that supposedly shows two UPD officers planting drug evidence during a traffic stop. The Utica Police Department has opened up sharing some details of an ongoing internal investigation, and we have the full scoop.

WIBX is reporting that an investigation was opened by the UPD on October 18th, after a request for an investigation was filed by the NAACP. Sergeant Steve Hauck said the investigation is being handled by a special section of the police department.

As far as the internal investigation, that’s handled by our Professional Standards unit, which is really a total, separate entity within the police department,” Hauck said. ”It’s its own unit.”

Hauck says the investigation is in its latter stages, but because of the circumstances he is unable to provide a timetable.
