The City of Utica's annual 9-11 Remembrance Ceremony took place this morning at the 9-11 Memorial on the Parkway.

Mayor Robert Palmieri placed a wreath at the monument and several elected officials spoke at the event, including Senator Joseph Griffo.

Griffo says it's important to keep the memories of that day alive.

Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi, Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente and Sheriff Rob Maciol also spoke at today's ceremony.

The names of the New York City firefighters and police officers who lost their lives on 9-11 were read following the ceremony.
