Utica Veterans Day Parade Off, Focus Shifts To Flags For Heroes

There will be no Veterans Day Parade in Utica this year.

Veterans Day organizers are shifting their focus from the parade to the "Flags For Heroes" Ceremony.

Instead of marching down Genesee Street, organizers are inviting everyone to attend the ceremony at the Parkway Rec Center this Saturday, November 5th at 11:00 a.m.

The event will include a performance by Sawyer Fredricks, the winner of Season Eight of NBC's "The Voice."

The event is open to the public.  All are encouraged to attend to give thanks to and honor all veterans.

The Good News Center will also display more than 1,000 U.S. flags on the Memorial Parkway leading up to the Veterans Day holiday.
