The Utica Zoo has released its first comprehensive master plan since 1990.

The master plan was unveiled Tuesday night at a private party with the theme "Dream Big with the Utica Zoo."

The zoo hired the company ELM Environment of Seattle to create the document.

ELM analyzed every part of the current zoo and looked at future expansion.  The Utica Zoo has 80 acres of land, 50 of which are available to expand.

The master plan is broken down into three, five, ten and 20 year goals.

Highlights of the plan include animal additions like giraffe, black bears, tigers and orangutan.

The full master plan document and map are posted at uticazoo.org
