To be honest, it takes a lot for Rihanna not to steal the spotlight with her mere presence.

Yet somehow, the latest teaser trailer for the upcoming Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets is enough of a visual buffet that even the Anti icon and Bates Motel actress is momentarily eclipsed by the sheer beauty and vastness of the CGI-filled landscape.

The sweeping sci-fi epic, co-starring Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevigne (plus Clive Owens, John Goodman and Kris Wu among others), is an original — for once, not a remake or a sequel! — directed by Luc Besson (The Fifth Element, The Professional), based on the comic series Valérian and Laureline.

Rih plays the part of Bubble, "a shapeshifting entertainer," which means this role won't be much of a stretch from her usual day job. She's only in this new trailer for a half-second after the 2-minute mark, but her quick-change Cabaret-to-naughty-nurse moment alone is worth the price of admission.

From IMDB: "A dark force threatens Alpha, a vast metropolis and home to species from a thousand planets. Special operatives Valerian and Laureline must race to identify the marauding menace and safeguard not just Alpha, but the future of the universe."

Watch the trailer for the rather promising looking Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, due out in July, up top.
