Music is a poweful medium.  It's not ususual for a song to touch someone's emotions and make them cry.  However, sad songs aren't usually what you'd expect from Avril Lavigne.    That changed with her latest album, 'Goodbye Lullaby.' At the time she was working on the album, Avril was going through a divorce.  She and Deryck Whibley had been married for three years when they called it quits.

She tells "The Ottawa Citizen" that she poured her emotions into her music and reduced some of her friends to tears because of it.  "Throughout this album, there are some real vulnerable moments, where I didn't hold back when it came to writing, just because I wanted it to be real.  I wanted it to move somebody.  Some of the songs I didn't want to put on the record, and my girlfriends made me.  They were their favorites.  When I played these songs for my friends and family, sometimes they would cry.  I've never really had that for my songs before."
