Of all the spectacular technology in the Star Wars franchise, the 'Death Star' may be the most astounding feat of imaginary engineering ever.

But just exactly how much would it cost to actually build a 'Death Star?' After all, this is a planet-sized mobile military base.

Well according to an article on IFLS.com, building a 'Death Star' would cost $852 quadrillion ($852,000,000,000,000,000). The article also explains the financial backlash to the Galactic Empire due to the destruction of both 'Death Stars' in 'A New Hope' and 'Return of the Jedi.'

Start saving your money now and just maybe your great-great-great grandchildren will be able to afford a down-payment.

In the video below, NASA engineer Brian Muirhead explains how construction on a 'Death Star' would begin with commandeering an asteroid.

Muirhead also explains real-life technology that could be used to travel through space like Han Solo and the Skywalker family does in the Star Wars movies.
