If your not a fan of snow and cold weather, you may be in luck; El Nino is expected to bring warmer than normal temperatures and little snow to Central New York.

We don't dare say: "winter is over," but there's a good chance, the rest of it will be a little less harsh than last year's. The weather outside may be frightful but, a quicker than normal thaw would certainly be delightful.

According to Syracuse.com:

Late January and early February are likely to be warmer than normal in the Northeast, including Central New York. The Climate Prediction Center gives the odds at better than 60 percent for the last week of January and the first few days of February. The entire month of February, in fact, is likely to be warmer than normal -- a relief from last year's brutally cold February.

While there will still be a few cold days ahead, the chance of significant snow fall in Central New York is highly unlikely because daily "freezing" temperatures aren't expected to last for much longer. Here's an overview courtesy of The Weather Channel.

This scenario is probably OK with most of us; before you know it, the birds will be chirping, the grass will be greening, and we'll all be singing. Spring is right around the corner!
