Was It Cold Enough To Set Records in Central New York
Where was the coldest place in the U.S this morning? Watertown, New York gets that honor at -38 according to th National Weather Service.
Most of Central New York saw record lows. In Utica, the -22.5 temperatures beat the all time low of -21.5 set January 24, 2011. If you factor in the wind chill of -38.2, that's a record by -4.9, set last February 16th.
It was the 8th coldest morning for Syracuse at -23 and the coldest Valentines Day ever. The old record was -20 February 14th in 1979.
Binghamton, New York tied for 2nd coldest morning ever at -18 and smashed the Valentines Day record low of -9 set in 1979.
There is still a wind chill warning up until 1 this afternoon and a winter storm on the way Monday Night.
