Have you been to Times Square in New York City to see the ball drop on New Year's Eve? Now you can see it from the comfort of your own home with several live webcams or even on your iPhone. The Times Square Ball will even be tweeting.  You can follow on Twitter @TimesSquareBall

You can also watch festivities in Florida, New Orleans, Las Vegas or even St Croix and Ireland.

The best part is, you can get up and go to the bathroom or get something to drink without losing your spot.  I've always wondered how people stand in the same spot for hours on end.  What happens when they have to go?

Watch the festivities from Times Square live here or download the app to watch on your iPhone or Android device.

Times Square Ball History
Did you know the first Times Square New Year's Eve celebration began in 1904.  It wasn't until 1907, the first ball, made of iron and wood dropped over Times Square.  In 1920 the ball changed to all iron and weighed 400 pounds.  In 1955 it changed again to aluminum with rhinestones.  The crystal ball came about in 1999 and in 2007 LED technology replaced the light bulbs.
